SACRAMENTO, Calif. — An emergency road repair on the southbound side of the Capital City Freeway caused major traffic tie-ups for hours, and it started right at rush hour in Sacramento.
According to Caltrans District 3, the repairs were made when a hole opened up on the Capital City Freeway bridge over Highway 50.
The P Street on-ramp to the southbound Capital City Freeway was closed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as were some lanes on the freeway. The westbound transition from US 50 to southbound State Route 99 was also closed due to the repairs.
Just after 9 p.m., CHP reported that all of the repairs had been made and that all effected roads were back up and running.
