SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One person was killed in a crash in the Arden-Arcade area and four others were taken to the hospital, according to California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in the 2600 block of Fulton Avenue near Elvyra Way around 5:37 p.m.
CHP says a Toyota SUV, driven by a 50-year-old man, was driving southbound in the #2 lane on Fulton Avenue just south of Marconi when he rear-ended a Dodge pickup truck driven by a 50-year-old man.
The pickup truck overturned and landed off the roadway, killing the driver and injuring the female passenger.
The driver of the Toyota continued forward and hit a Volkswagen SUV driven by a woman in her 30's with a baby in the car, CHP says.
Both women were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the baby was taken to the hospital as a precaution, CHP says.
The Toyota driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was taken to the hospital with complaints of pain and minor injuries. Sacramento Metro Fire officials say seven people in total were checked for injuries.
