AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. — One person was killed and three others were injured in Amador County after head-on crash Friday evening, according to Amador Fire officials.
California Highway Patrol says a Ford Explorer was driving westbound on 88, just west of Silver Drive, when it was hit by a Chevrolet Trail Blazer driving eastbound. Both cars were driving at an "unknown" speed and it's unclear at this time why the Chevrolet crossed over the double yellow lines in the road.
The Ford went down an embankment off the roadway and stopped. The Chevrolet was blocking both lanes of the highway, causing it to close for multiple hours. The road reopened around 9:30 p.m., according to Amador Fire.
Officials say one person was transported to the hospital via helicopter and two more were taken by ground ambulance. It's unclear how severely the three people were hurt as a result of the crash.
