STOCKTON, Calif. — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a semi-truck on southbound Highway 99 in Stockton early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened just before 5 a.m.
CHP says the Stockton Communication Center was called for a vehicle vs. unknown object crash on 99, south of Cherokee Road.
CHP says a 2015 Peterbilt semi-truck towing a trailer was going southbound at around 50 mph when it hit a male pedestrian walking in the road.
The pedestrian was fatally injured in the crash. The semi-truck driver wasn’t injured.
CHP says the truck driver was not under the influence. It’s unknown if the pedestrian was at the time of the crash.
The road was closed as a result of the crash but has since reopened.
