Hwy. 12 in Sacramento, San Joaquin counties reopens after bridge repairs

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — 8:30 p.m. update: Both sides of Highway 12 have reopened. 

Original story: A chunk of Highway 12 in Sacramento and San Joaquin counties is closed Friday through Saturday morning while officials work on repairing a bridge, according to Caltrans. 

Both directions of 12 are closed from Rio Vista to Little Potato Slough Bridge. The River Delta Fire District says the Mokelumne Bridge is out of service. Repairs are expected to last until 6 a.m. Saturday, according to Caltrans. 

Officials advise drivers to completely avoid the area and find alternative routes.
