Hotel Marysville rendered total loss after fire

The Marysville Fire Department said northbound E Street is closed between 4th and 5th streets as fire crews worked to put it out.

MARYSVILLE, Calif. — A significant fire Saturday night at Hotel Marysville rendered the building a total loss, authorities said.

Around 11:15 p.m., the Marysville Fire Department took to social media to alert the public northbound E Street was closed between 4th and 5th streets as fire crews worked to put it out. The road is still closed, and could remain so for a while longer if the hotel has to be demolished, according to Caltrans.

"We're talking to Caltrans trying to figure out a game plan," said Marysville Fire Department Chief Kyle Heggstrom.

There was fire throughout the whole building, but there were no injuries reported, he said. The fire’s cause is under investigation.

The fire department said crews from Linda, Loma Rica, Yuba City, Sutter, Wheatland and Olvehurst all aided in combating the blaze.

Road closures in the area include the north and south bound lanes of Highway 70 between 4th and 5th Street and 5th Street between D and Highway 70.
