Pedestrian in a wheelchair dies after being hit by car on Watt Avenue near North Highlands

CHP said the man was in a wheelchair and was in the roadway for unknown reasons.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — A man in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a car on Watt Avenue early Saturday morning.

The crash was reported around 5:29 a.m. The California Highway Patrol said the man was in the middle of the roadway, for unknown reasons, at Watt Ave, north of Roseville Road when a male driver traveling southbound on Watt struck him.

CHP says the man hit was in his late 20s. He was taken to the hospital with major injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash is under investigation, The cause is unknown at this time. CHP says the driver is cooperating with the investigation and no drugs or alcohol were involved.
