SACRAMENTO, California — Ironman California is happening on Sunday, Oct. 22. The triathlon features run, swim, and bike portions as part of the race that will impact traffic.
According to the course map, the 2.4-mile swim portion will start in the American River and swimmers will transition to the Sacramento River, ending in West Sacramento. The biking portion is 112 miles with two loops and will start and end in West Sacramento. The running portion is 26.2 miles, and runners will do two laps of the course, and run through both West Sacramento and Sacramento, finishing near the California State Capitol.
This event will impact traffic in Downtown Sacramento, Old Sacramento, West Sacramento, and the Capitol Mall areas. During race week, there will be impacts along the Capitol Mall from 5th to 9th streets until Oct. 23 at 1 p.m.
There will also be ramp closures on Highway 50 ramps. The westbound Highway 50 5th Street off-ramp and eastbound Highway 50 River Road on-ramp will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on race day.
