SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Ironman California returns to the Sacramento area on Sunday. Participants will start with a 2.4-mile swim, bike 112 miles, and finish with a marathon, which is 26.2 miles.
The downriver swim begins in the American River near Township 9 Park and ends in the Sacramento River near the Tower Bridge.
The bike course is two loops, beginning and ending at Sutter Health Park. It starts in West Sacramento and runs along the Jefferson Boulevard route to the Delta.
The running course will have two laps, beginning on the River Walk Trail next to the Sacramento River. It will go from West Sacramento to Old Sacramento, into Discovery Park, and end near the California State Capitol.
Traffic impacts have already started, but most will be on Sunday, October 27. There will be impacts on Highway 50 ramps, in Yolo and Solano counties, and the cities of Sacramento and West Sacramento.
