SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — South Lake Tahoe had a snowplow naming contest and the results are in.
South Lake Tahoe Director of Public Works, Anush Nejad, says they got over 27 feet of snow last season, and some of their equipment needed to be replaced.
Nejad says the South Lake Tahoe city council approved $3.5 million to do that. The newest big additions are four graders and two snowblowers. They also added more staffing.
"This hopefully will improve all of our operations and we'll be able to get to all of the homes faster with better equipment. We plan to also get additional equipment–get the city council to approve additional equipment for next year as well," said Nejad.
The new equipment also has names.
Nejad says the contest is fun when the community can get connected. They provided names to residents, they voted on them, and there were ten winning names. They hope to expand the naming contest in the future.
