Officials say the crash happened around 5:08 p.m. Friday on Highway 4 near Gillis Road.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A motorcyclist died Friday after crashing into a semitruck just outside of Stockton, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials say the crash happened around 5:08 p.m. when a 2015 Freight box truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 4 near Gillis Road. The truck, driven by a 55-year-old Manteca man, stopped at the intersection to turn left onto Gillis Road.

While he turned left, a 2021 Kawasaki 400 motorcycle ridden by a 44-year-old Farmington man, crashed into him.

Officials say the motorcyclist was riding at about 55 mph, "crossing over double yellow lines and passing traffic."

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say it's unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. No other information is currently available.
