Officials investigating person hit, killed in Modesto

The crash happened on McHenry Avenue, south of Sylvan.

MODESTO, Calif. — Modesto police are investigating after a person was hit and killed by a car Saturday evening. 

The crash happened on McHenry Avenue, south of Sylvan around 7:30 p.m. The driver of the Ford Fiesta that allegedly hit the man stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, investigators said.

According to police, the driver of the car did not show signs of impairment from drugs or alcohol.

McHenry Avenue was closed in both directions from Standiford Avenue to Robin Hood Drive, according to Caltrans. Officials have since reopened the roads.
