Sacramento Fire Department officials say it happened around 9 p.m. in the 8700 block of Fruitridge Road when a car crashed into a power pole.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A car crash left someone briefly trapped and hundreds without power in Sacramento Saturday night, according to fire officials.

Sacramento Fire Department officials say it happened around 9 p.m. in the 8700 block of Fruitridge Road when a car crashed into a power pole. It's currently unclear what caused the crash and police are investigating.

A person was trapped in the car and officials are "not able to access him due to the live transformers above and also the crush hazard they present to our crews."

Sacramento Police Department officials say the person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being removed from the car. Fire officials say the person was taken in critical condition.

Multiple agencies are still working in the area. There is a SMUD power outage in the area as well, impacting over 200 customers. SMUD outage maps anticipate the power to be restored around 11:15 p.m.

Police say the road will be reduced to one lane while they investigate.
