MENDOTA, Calif. — A 29-year-old man from Rancho Cordova was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Christmas Eve.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday on SR-33 north of Bass Avenue in Fresno County.
CHP says the unidentified 29-year-old was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when it went off the road, hit a guardrail, and overturned into a canal.
First responders found the vehicle almost fully submerged. The driver was trapped and died from his injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
