PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — A man driving a golf cart was hit and killed Tuesday morning in Tahoe City.
Around 6:30 a.m., a man from Tahoe City was driving a Honda heading westbound on Highway 28 west of Grove Street, according to California Highway Patrol — Truckee.
A man in his fifties from Kings Beach was driving a golf cart belonging to the Tahoe City Downtown Association. The person driving the Honda hit the back of the golf cart, and the man was thrown from the golf cart and died. Drugs or alcohol aren't suspected in the crash, according to CHP Truckee.
The Tahoe City Downtown Association announced that it was one of their employees who was killed in the accident while on the job.
"Tahoe City Downtown Association’s staff and board of directors would like to extend their deepest sympathy and support to the employee’s family and friends," the association said on Facebook.
Highway 28 in Placer County was closed in both directions for a few hours Tuesday morning after the crash, according to Caltrans. The crash is under investigation and anyone with more information can call Officer J. Gardner at CHP Truckee at (530) 563-9200.
