Midtown, downtown, Old Sacramento metered parking free through Christmas

Meters within the "holiday parking zone" will be free after 4:30 on the weekdays and all day on the weekends, including green meter payment machines, officials say.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento is making some parking throughout the city free from Nov. 24 through Dec. 24 to promote residents and visitors to dine, shop and go to events around Old Sacramento, midtown and downtown.

Meters within the "holiday parking zone" will be free after 4:30 on the weekdays and all day on the weekends, including green meter payment machines, according to the city.

The holiday parking zone is bordered by Front Street to the west, I Street to the north, 29th Street to the east and L Street or Capitol Avenue to the south. See a map below for more specific information.

The free parking applies only to meter payments and meters will say whether you have to pay or not. Other parking violations for street cleaning, time or color zones will continue to be enforced.
