SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento Regional Transit said on Twitter a light rail accident occurred at 10th and O streets, affecting traffic downtown on Wednesday, May 26, around 5 p.m.
Sacramento Regional Transit spokesperson Jessica Gonzalez told ABC10 that a van pushed the light rail off the tracks. She added that downtown travelers should expect the delay to last a while as crews move the train. No definite time was given for when the light rail will start back up.
A bus will be running while the rail line is affected to transport passengers from 13th Street and stops near the Sacramento Cathedral, according to the transit department.
Sacramento Regional Transit did not initially report the cause of the accident, when normal traffic and the light rail will resume in the area or whether any passengers were injured. However, Gonzales later confirmed there were no injuries.
Public transportation users can download the Sacramento Regional Transit phone application to receive updates about how their route may be affected.
