SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Roads around the UC Davis Medical Center have reopened after a natural gas leak late Wednesday morning.

According to the Sacramento Fire Department, the gas leak happened because construction crews accidentally hit a 4” gas main.

A two-block area around Stockton Boulevard and 2nd Avenue was evacuated along with nearby businesses. UC Davis Medical Center wasn't evacuated.

Stockton Boulevard between Y Street and 2nd Avenue was closed as a result but reopened to drivers around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
