SACRAMENTO, Calif. — As California's temperatures rise, so is demand for local air conditioning repair companies.
“We are getting hundreds -- yeah, hundreds a day of people calling,” said Varin Larson, with Big Mountain Heating & Air.
The most common reason for an air conditioning to break down is dirt.
“You can see there are a ton of electrical components, and one of those electrical components is going to fail, alright? Very typically... what usually causes it to fail is dirt that collects in area that doesn’t allow the air to get through,” said Larson.
Phil Isaacs, with California Energy and Consultant Service, said they’ve been getting calls about the same kinds of problems plus others, including dirty filters and damaged outdoor coils.
They are taking around 30 calls a day and trying their best to get to 10 customers a day.
Both companies said the best way to prevent your system from breaking down is to have regular maintenance checks.
The fastest way to get service is to already have a relationship with a company as a returning client. It is also helpful to know how old your unit is and the last time it had maintenance.
