California Storm: Eastbound I-80 reopens after crash in Truckee involving several big rigs

California Highway Patrol said to expect heavy traffic in the area.

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Eastbound Interstate 80 is open in Central Truckee after a crash early Wednesday involving several big rigs. California Highway Patrol said to expect heavy traffic in the area.

The crash happened on I-80 and Highway 89 in Nevada County, according to Caltrans. The crash involved 10 vehicles, according to Truckee police.

CHP Truckee said eastbound traffic was diverted onto southbound Highway 89. Minor injuries have been reported from the crash, according to CHP Truckee. The roadway reopened around 11:30 because recovering the big rigs is a long process.

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District said all schools had a two-hour late start due to the accident.

"This closure currently makes it impossible for any staff members living in Reno to commute to work," the district wrote.
