SANTA ROSA, Calif. — A preliminary magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California near Eureka Friday.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck at 7:08 a.m. near Petrolia. It's near Ferndale and Fortuna California.
A few people reported feeling it as far north as McKinleyville and as far south as Littleriver. The ShakeAlert app will usually send alerts for earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 and greater. There are no immediate reports of damage.
