HUMBOLDT, California — A preliminary magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Humboldt County, Monday.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck around 3:20 a.m. nearly 12 miles west of Petrolia. It's near Rio Dell and Eureka, California.
A few people reported feeling it as far north as Crescent City and as far south as Mendocino and Fort Bragg.
Another earthquake was reported off the coast near Humboldt Hill around 3:30 a.m. The U.S. Geological Survey said the 4.1 quake was reported about 17 miles east of Bayview and about 18 miles east of Eureka.
