M4.5 earthquake near Hollister felt as far as Modesto area

People reported feeling it as far as the Turlock, Modesto and Stockton areas.

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. — A preliminary magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck near Hollister, California, Tuesday.

 The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck shortly after 3:20 p.m.

 It was centered about a mile north of Tres Pinos and about 5.5 miles southeast of Hollister. According to USGS, it happened in the area of the Calaveras Fault Zone.

 People reported feeling it as far as the Turlock, Modesto and Stockton areas.  There are no immediate reports of damage.
