4.2 earthquake reported in Northern California

The earthquake struck in the mountains near Anderson Springs, Healdsburg and north of Santa Rosa, California.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — A preliminary magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck near Sonoma, Lake counties, Friday.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck around 1:30 p.m. near The Geysers. The Geyers is the world's largest geothermal field in the Mayacamas Mountains in both Sonoma and Lake counties. It's near Anderson Springs, Healdsburg and Santa Rosa, California.

A few people reported feeling it as far north as Lakeport and as far south as San Francisco. The ShakeAlert app will usually send alerts for earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 and greater. There are no immediate reports of damage.
