SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Temperatures will be cooling but dry north winds and dry grass will increase the fire danger by Friday.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys Friday through Sunday. Any fires that start could spread quickly. The late spring rain in May helped renew grass growth in the valleys and foothills, leading to more fuels for fires to burn.

The National Interagency Coordination Center shows high fire risk Friday and Saturday for the Sacramento Valley-Foothills and the Diablo-Santa Cruz Mountain areas. This is due to low humidity, strong winds and mostly dry grasses.
