SACRAMENTO, Calif. — For the past 3 days, Sacramento resident Terri Pullen has spent her time dealing with a power outage in her home off Lemon Hill Avenue.
"The refrigerator, everything in the fridge is gone bad, I got to clean that out, and it's completely dark. I mean, we don't light that many candles, but It's just completely dark and it's cold," she told ABC10. "So I haven't been able to sleep very well."
Pullen has been preparing for a potential flood in her home by spending four hours a day digging trenches on her property by herself.
Residents across the area are suffering the same outages—some as far back as New Year's Eve more than one week ago.
Neighbor William Murphy was one of those residents.
"Looking outside and everything was downed lights, it was an experience," he said.
The same night he lost power, Murphy said a large branch fell off his tree and landed on the garage.
"Well I'm concerned about—is this gonna happen again?" he said. "The lights going out again, I'm trying to get prepared for that."
While SMUD crews were spotted working on Lemon Hill Avenue where a power pole blocked the road, they have yet to restore power to all residents in the area.
A SMUD spokesperson said they have restored more than 98% of the outages since the start of the series of storms.
Pullen says she just wants to be informed so she can prepare.
