SACRAMENTO, Calif. — An atmospheric river storm is bringing rain showers across Northern California, and some cities within San Joaquin, Tuolumne and Stanislaus counties have free sandbags for people to help mitigate flooding around their homes.
The weather event, known as a bomb cyclone, moved from Washington and hit the area Wednesday, according to ABC10 meteorologists.
With more rain on the way, sandbags can be used as a way to keep water from getting into a building, either by forming a barrier or diverting it away.
