SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Records continue to fall with the latest round of wet weather hitting Northern California.
This latest storm delivering the heaviest rainfall to the Northern San Joaquin Valley resulted in flooding and evacuations.
Stockton recorded 1.23 inches of rain as of 5 p.m. breaking the old daily record of 1.20 inches set back in 1973. Modesto also set a daily record of 1.05 inches breaking the old record of 0.93 in 1950.
In Oakdale, Karly Schamp caught what appears to be a funnel cloud. The National Weather Service in Sacramento confirms although there were no thunderstorms in the area around the time she captured this around 12:45 p.m., it appears a funnel cloud was forming.
Emergency officials are continuing to watch flooding issues in the valley, especially around the Mokelumne River. Some people near Acampo woke up to flooded homes.
Flooded streets were also a problem through the day. Caltrans had to close portions of Highway 99 due to flooding near the area.
Flood waters for roadways and rivers are expected to remain elevated until a bigger stretch of dry weather arrives later this week.
