Hot, dry conditions to start off this week in Northern California

Fire weather and heat kick off this week in Northern California with better weather expected for the weekend.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The last week in May will be mostly hot in Northern California with some relief just in time for the long holiday weekend. 

Monday will see a new Red Flag Warning for the valley areas up to a few thousand feet. Dry air and gusty winds will affect the region for two days and the Red Flag Warning is in effect from Monday at 11 a.m. to Tuesday at 8 p.m.

The wind will not be as strong as the last round of Red Flag Warning days but will be occasionally strong up to 30mph and single digit humidity.

Hot weather will be the dominant weather with temps in the mid-90s on Monday. 

Tuesday and Wednesday will be hotter with 100 degree heat or higher and records will be threatened.

Thursday will see a drastic drop in temps with highs moving into the upper 80s.

Memorial Day weekend will be more mild with temps in the 80s and low 90s.
