The largest fire complex in California state history is difficult to comprehend. Technically it's two fires in the same area, but it's been fought by the same unified command and when we look back at this fire, it will ultimately be treated as a single event.
With that said, as of this writing, the fire has collectively burned more than 290,000 acres. That is a massive area and when you compare it to well known metro areas, it helps it achieve scale.

Now it's obvious that a fire like this could never burn through a urban area because the fuel does not exist, but it brings to light the area that has burned and will be changed for decades to come.
