'If you don't smile, you cry': Soda Springs residents react to spring snow

Tuesday's winter weather kept Leanne Grimmer busy as she plowed her driveway and removed the snow from her home. She's worried the weather will impact Memorial Day weekend business.

SODA SPRINGS, Calif. — Back-to-back storms in the Sierra are starting to take a toll on residents who thought they were done with the snow this season.

"We thought this was it. We had some lovely weather up here," said Soda Springs resident Leanne Grimmer.

Tuesday's winter weather kept Grimmer busy as she plowed her driveway and removed the snow from her home.

"I can't remember a May when I had to do this," Grimmer added.

The 20-year Soda Springs residents owns Donner Summit Rentals. She told ABC10 her guests were worried about the weather impacting their plans for the holiday weekend.

"We've got people coming in for Memorial Day weekend, and they're calling, like: 'Is there snow on the ground?' 'Are we going to be able to get in?' 'Do we need chains?' And you wouldn't expect that for Memorial Day," Grimmer explained.

While she's frustrated to be dealing with the massive amounts of snow in May, Grimmer is staying optimistic.

"You know if you don't smile, you cry," Grimmer said. "So, you just get out and shovel. I was about to take the snow blinds down and pack the shovels away, and then I saw this forecast, and I thought, no, it's not time yet."
