EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — A man was rescued from a creek in El Dorado Hills Monday morning, according to the El Dorado Hills Fire Department.

The man was camping in the Sweetwater Creek area on a trail when the trail turned into a river because of the heavy rains, according to an El Dorado Hills battalion chief. Due to the heavy overnight rains, the rushing water caused the man to be pushed into the center of the fast-moving water.

The fire department said the man climbed a tree and called 911. Crews rescued the man.

It's unclear why the man was camping in severe weather, the fire department said.

#EDHFire responded to a swift water rescue on Sweetwater Creek in El Dorado Hills early this morning. Due to heavy rains a male victim was trapped in the middle of the rapidly moving waters in the creek. Water Rescue 84, Engine 85, Medic 85, Battalion 85, and C8501 rescued the victim. Please use caution in the heavy rains in areas near the water.
