SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A multi-day cold storm delivered Northern California rain and snow for thirsty areas.
One key aspect of this system was it brought rain to all areas of California. Northern, Central, and Southern California all saw rain totals near 1-2 inches with the drier spots often above half an inch of rain. Many areas in Central and Southern California are now reporting rain totals above the average for this time in November.
The rainy season officially began on Oct. 1 and goes until September the following year. October was mostly dry and only one weaker storm kicked off November.
Sacramento remains about 0.25 inches below the seasonal average up to this point in November, but one storm would erase the deficit.
Snow was also a big factor in the storm.
Many ski areas reported over a foot of snow in the last 24 hours. Kirkwood reported 13 inches as of Wednesday morning, Palisades Tahoe 18 inches in the last 24 hours, and Mammoth Mountain is reporting 32 inches over the course of the storm.
Light snow will continue to fall through Wednesday morning to about 3,000 feet with chain controls through the morning.
The next phase for the weather will be clearing to cold mornings with frost and patchy fog. Icy conditions will remain for Sierra roads.
A new storm is set for later Saturday night to early Sunday morning.
