SACRAMENTO, Calif. — High pressure continues to deliver dry and unseasonably warm weather across much of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. Afternoon temperatures have continued to climb since Sunday, peaking Tuesday with record heat.
Sacramento Executive hit a high of 76°, breaking the old record set back in 2014 of 75°. Stockton also broke the previous record of 73° set in 1991 by reaching a high of 77° late Tuesday afternoon.
These very warm temperatures were seen throughout the valley, surrounding foothills, the Bay Area and in the Sierra.
Tuesday was also a windy day with peak gusts near 35-40+ mph. Wednesday will be even windier as the weather pattern shifts slightly. The valley could see 40-50 mph wind gusts.
This shifting weather pattern will also bring cooler temperatures through the end of the week. Highs will be back near normal in the mid-60s.
Was it a tornado or a gustnado in Davis, California? It turns out both. Carley Gomez explains the difference between the two and why both can be dangerous.
