SODA SPRINGS, Calif. — At Boreal Mountain Resort, the countdown is on to lay down fresh lines so skiers, snowboarders and businesses can enjoy the fun.
The winter season is officially underway at Boreal Mountain Resort. Thanks to a recent storm dumping a fresh layer of snow.
“We blew a bunch of snow onto the hill and Mother Nature did come and help provide through this storm cycle,” said Tucker Norred, with Boreal Mountain Resort.
Norred says the entire mountain will not be open just yet, but it will be enough to fulfill skiers and snowboarders’ urge to hit the slopes as the resort kicks off its 60th anniversary.
“We are starting with one of the best snowpacks we have seen in November for a couple of years now,” Norred said.
The early opening of ski resorts isn’t just good news for winter sports enthusiasts. It’s also a boon for local businesses.
“As soon as they open, that always helps with a little bit of a push for sure,” said Trinidad Rey, a bartender at El Toro Bravo.
El Toro Bravo and other Truckee businesses are currently focused on what lies ahead.
“We kind of start hiring a little more as the holidays get closer," Rey said.
