Multiple Northern California counties under 'severe thunderstorm warning'

NWS is warning people of nickel size hail, up to 60 mph winds and possible fire danger in some areas. Expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.

CALIFORNIA, USA — National Weather Service officials have issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for multiple Northern California counties Saturday afternoon.

NWS is warning people of nickel size hail, up to 60 mph winds and possible fire danger due to potential lightning strikes. Expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.

A severe thunderstorm was located at 4 p.m. near Shriner Lake campground, or near Bear Valley moving north at 20 mph, according to the ABC10 weather team.

The counties impacted are as follows: 

  • Tuolumne
  • Calaveras
  • El Dorado
  • Amador
  • Alpine
  • Placer 

Locations include Carson Pass, Kirkwood, Bear Valley, Lake Alpine, Kirkwood Meadows, Tamarack, Upper Blue Lake, Kirkwood Ski Area, Kit Carson, Lookout Peak, Shriner Lake campground and Hermit Valley basin.
