People in Pollock Pines enjoy the snow after break in storm

As a Pollock Pines resident for the past 15 years, this type of snow was nothing unusual for Allan Wilhelm. Nonetheless, he was still prepared.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — The snow was on and off throughout the day in Pollock Pines Sunday.

Some people took the opportunity to enjoy the snow, and others used it to finally get out from their homes.

As a Pollock Pines resident for the past 15 years, this type of snow was nothing unusual for Allan Wilhelm. Nonetheless, he was still prepared.

He said he got about a foot of snow in his neighborhood.

"I'm always getting everything ready to go. I've got a little generator on my back deck and underneath the cover. I get stuff ready to go," he said.

While he's used to the weather, he didn't take any chances with his safety.

"When I hear there's closures, I pretty much stay off the highway," said Wilhelm.

Despite warnings from Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol, some decided to hit the roads in search of adventure.

"That's why I got this car, all-wheel drive and snow tires on it. I mean, I love going to the snow," said Jacob Osborn, of Sacramento.

This storm also brought in just enough snow in Pollock Pines for some family fun.

"The snow fall is a good amount for the kids to play in. It's not too much, not too little," said Kali Botelho, also of Sacramento.
