CALIFORNIA, USA — San Joaquin and Calaveras counties have been added to Governor Gavin Newsom's emergency declaration for California's winter storms.

The move hopes to aid storm response efforts in those counties along with Del Norte, Glenn, Kings and San Benito. With the recent addition, it brings the total number of counties under Newsom's emergency declaration to 40.

Last week, President Joe Biden also issued a President Emergency Declaration that allowed federal help for storm response efforts.

With the declaration in place for the respective counties, they'll be able to waive fees for records, including those marriage and birth certificates, and it also helps hospitals continue to provide services.
