Some Northern California schools closed Tuesday due to weather impacts

Weather-related impacts are keeping some schools closed Jan. 17.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Some schools in Northern California are canceling classes due to extreme weather impacts over the holiday weekend.

Unlike prior storm-related closures, some districts only have a handful of school campuses closed as opposed to the entire district. Others are opting for a later start to the school day.

Lodi Unified School District

Flooding around Houston Elementary School and Joe Serna Jr. Charter School has canceled classes for both schools Tuesday. All other schools in the district will be in session.

Camino Union Schools District

All schools for Camino Union Schools District will be closed Jan. 17 due to weather conditions.

Amador County Unified School District

Classes were canceled for Pioneer Elementary School on Jan. 17. All other schools in the district will be open. 

Late Starts

Summerville Elementary School District — At least one school in Tuolumne County, Summerville Elementary School, is choosing to operate with a late start. Classes at Summerville Elementary will begin at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. Buses will also pick students up about two hours later as well.

El Dorado Union High School District —The following schools will be operating on a two-hour delayed start Tuesday: Union Mine High School, El Dorado High School and Independence High School.

Lake Tahoe Unified School District — All schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District are on a two-hour delayed start on Jan. 17 due to road conditions.

Pioneer Union School District  — Schools in the Pioneer Union School District are on a two-hour delayed start on Jan. 17. According to the district, the green route will be running satellite stops and the morning extended day will not be operating Tuesday.

Bus Routes Impacted

Black Oak Mine Unified School District — Buses will only go as high as the Buckeye stop on Jan. 17 due to road conditions, according to the district

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District — All schools in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District are open, but the district says to expect possible bus delays.
