SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Heavy rain and snow have returned to Northern California. The strongest of three weather systems will continue to affect the Sierra through early Friday. The Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys will see clearing skies by early Friday.

A Winter Weather Advisory will remain in effect through 4 am Friday with travel delays heading into the Sierra.

The valley will see up to 0.50-0.75 inches of rain. Sierra snow totals will be close to a foot. Snow level will be between 5000-6000 feet.

Two more weather systems will follow Thursday's storm. Showers return to the valley and Sierra overnight Friday through Saturday. This storm will bring lighter rain and snow totals but will keep travel delays going in the Sierra.

Right now, Valentine's Day looks dry and mild with valley highs in the 50s and Sierra highs in the 40s.

Rain and snow return late Sunday through Monday. This will be the last storm rolling through for several days. The next chance of wet weather doesn't look likely until Thursday of next week.
