SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Northern California weekend weather is set to bring sunny skies and mostly quiet weather until everything changes Sunday night.

Friday morning will be cold, with temperatures in the 30s, patchy frost, and light winds. The east side of the Sierra including the Tahoe basin will have morning light lingering showers connected to low pressure in Arizona.

The wrap-around moisture will move up in elevation and keep light snow at least into the early afternoon.

Friday afternoon the Valley will see dry weather, with sunny skies but breezy winds out of the northwest up to 15 mph. Highs will be about 10 degrees warmer than Thursday and top out in the upper 60s.

Saturday will be beautiful and quiet with sunny skies, temperatures in the upper 60s, and clear weather for the Sierra as well.

Sunday will start off quiet and nice but will see increasing clouds through the day and increasing south winds. Sunday is the day of the spring forward time change and sunset is closer to 7 p.m.

A new storm moves in Sunday night with valley rain and Sierra snow down to 5,000 ft and lower by Monday morning. Highs will also drop in the Valley to the low 60s.

Early morning rain and snow are expected for the Monday commute, but will partially clear by the afternoon.
