WHEN
Wet and windy weather will continue into Friday.
Snow is generally light to moderate during the entire period of unsettled weather, but the snow impacts continue between periods of snow with icy roads.
The heavier snow for the Tahoe region will be more spotty but the main western slope of the Sierra down to about 5,000 feet will continue to see snow mostly late in the day and evening.
Wind will ease up Thursday, but the light scattered snow will continue through the day and part of Friday.

NEED
This amount of snow for the Sierra is considered light with 6-10" of snow spread out over three days. However, any travel during periods of snow often includes spinouts and crashes. Prepare for delays and longer periods of travel. Speed limits are lower in chain control areas and speed is often the major factor contributing to crashes.
