Weather Impact Alert: Storm set for Veterans Day in Northern California

Some Monday plans may change with rain and snow moving in at the tail end of the Veterans Day Weekend

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Weather going into part of the Veterans Day weekend will be nice and mild until Monday when we expect rain and snow.

When

Many details will be hammered out in the coming days but the expectation is that the weekend should be dry. During the day, clouds will move in with the best chances for rain and snow moving in during the middle of the day.

Snow will start earlier at a lower snow level below the passes around 6,000 ft. then rise slightly during the day.

Totals will be light around 0.10-0.25" for the valley and around 2" for the passes.

Impact

This is not a strong storm but it does fall on a holiday, Veterans Day. This creates a few challenges with rain on a day many will have "off" for work or school. Some outdoor events related to Veterans Day may also have to plan for rain.

Need

Since this system is several days out many details will be fine tuned, but timing and totals will change. We also are not committed to how far south the line of rain and snow will extend. Some models indicate as far as Modesto while some recent models indicate rain to about Sacramento.
