SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The weather forecast for the Sacramento region is changing Tuesday, but lingering impacts will affect Northern California throughout the day.
In the valley, in the morning, we will have some lingering showers and more steady rain focused in the Central Valley and South.
For the Sierra, lingering snow keeps winter weather for one more day.
When
This system will wind down with most weather impacts for the valley in the morning and lingering into the evening for the Sierra.
As we move into the evening, the storm drifts away and will be clear overnight. Dry weather sets up for Wednesday and will last through Thanksgiving.

Impact
Valley rain will not be that impactful, as far as total amounts, but the wet conditions will stick around. Also, with wet ground, fog has an easier time forming and will be at least patchy in the coming days.
The total amount of rain for the season is great with much higher amounts for higher elevations and areas north of I-80. South of I-80 more organized steady rain will bring up totals.
Lingering snow keeps chain controls in place; likely for the rest of the day. Icy conditions take over, with cold morning temps in the teens for the rest of the week.

Need
Early Thanksgiving travel in the Sierra will be tricky with snow and chain controls but should get better by Wednesday. For the Valley locations, water has come up, with Sacramento coming up nearly 10 feet since the beginning of the storm cycle. Creeks and streams are running higher than normal and the ground is now saturated and soft.
In the future, attention to fog and frost become the primary issue with clear nights and cold temperatures.
