SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California is facing stormy weather Monday with rain sweeping into the northern part of the state.
The storm forecast calls for periods of moderate to heavy rain through early Thursday. Snow level will continue to change so be prepared for on and off travel delays and possible chain controls.
Rain is expected for the Sierra through the day with snow level near 8,500 feet.
A few dry hours likely happen late Monday into Tuesday, before more heavy rain moves in Tuesday. This is the pattern that holds through the day on Wednesday and linger into Thursday.
A big element of this storm system will be the winds and gusts accompanying this first storm. Gusts as high as 20-35 mph are expected in the valley with higher gust speeds in the Sierra, Coastal range, and offshore.
