SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Traffic is being help eastbound Interstate 80 at Kingvale due to a crash in the area.
It comes as heavy and wet snowfall hits the region. The first of the storms began moving through the region Friday evening with rain in the forecast every day until Wednesday.
According to ABC10 Meteorologists, the nearly six-day rain event is set to be the most significant rain event of the wet season so far for Northern California. They're expecting one to three inches of rain to Valley and Foothill areas and up to six inches of snow to elevations above 6,000 feet.
According to the Sierra Avalance Center, the risk of avalanches is high, especially later in the evening on Saturday.
Chain Controls
- I-80 westbound is R2 from the Donner Lake Interchange to Rainbow
- I-80 eastbound is R2 from Kingvale to the Donner Lake Interchange
- Trucks are at minimum restrictions
