SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — A major winter storm developing from Thursday to Sunday has Lake Tahoe ski resorts closing their slopes to avoid potentially devastating impacts.
Weather forecasts prompted Diamond Peak Ski Resort at Incline Village Lake Tahoe to cancel the first day of their March snowshoe hike and other youth events Friday. The remaining weekend days are likely to have lift delays, if not full blown closures.
The resort's administrative building on 893 Southwood closed at 2 p.m. Thursday, along with the Championship Golf Shop, and will not reopen until Monday.
Additional ski resorts announcing temporary closures include:
- Donner Ski Ranch is closed Thursday
- Ski Heavenly is closed Thursday
- Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is closed Thursday
- Sierra At Tahoe ski resort will close Friday
