SACRAMENTO, Calif — UPDATE: Monday 4 p.m.

A WIND ADVISORY has been issued for Tuesday from 8a.m. until 8 p.m. for the valley with wind gusts to 40mph.

A LAKE WIND ADVISORY is also in effect Tuesday until early Wednesday for the Sierra with gusts near 45-50mph.

ORIGINAL:

The work week starts off dry for the valley with mild afternoon highs, and a weak weather system will move just east of the state bringing a chance of showers to the Sierra by the afternoon through early Tuesday.

As this weather system exits the area and moves east, high pressure will rebuild and bring breezy to windy weather Tuesday.

Northwesterly winds will pick up in the valley to near 20 to 30 mph. Gusts could be closer to 40 mph, and winds in the Sierra will be near 15 to 30 mph with gusts over 50 mph possible.

These wind speeds could cause damage to medical and business outdoor tenting. Local small power outages are also possible.

Pollen counts continue to climb with the mild weather. Expect higher levels of tree pollens this week, which could make it tough to be outside.
