Bill that would create 'Wildfire Fund' advances in California Legislature
On Wednesday, an Assembly committee approved AB 1054, which would establish a Wildfire Fund to help utilities pay the claims of future wildfire victims. It would also enact stricter preventive safety requirements for utilities. The bill now goes to the full Assembly, where it needs the vote of 2/3 of lawmakers. Gov. Gavin Newsom hopes to pass AB 1054 by the end of this week, before legislators go on summer break.
