ABC10's Gabriel Porras honored by Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce as Young Professional of the Year

"Receiving this award is really heartwarming to me as it is a show of support from the community that raised me," ABC10 reporter Gabiel Porras said.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — ABC10’s Gabriel Porras, a multi-skilled journalist who works in the station’s Stockton Bureau, was named the “Young Professional of the Year” by the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce Thursday.

Porras focuses his reporting on topics and issues of importance to valley and foothill counties that include San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Amador.

The Stockton Chamber, which has been serving the area as the voice of business since 1901, presented the prestigious award to Porras during the 2024 Business Awards and Installation Dinner that took place on Thursday evening at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.

“Receiving this award is really heartwarming to me as it is a show of support from the community that raised me," Porras said. "It’s a happy surprise and point-of-pride to share with my family and ABC10 colleagues.”

Born and raised in San Joaquin County, Porras calls Stockton home and is thrilled to share stories from his hometown for ABC10.

The types of stories he is most proud of include those that highlight local, culturally based businesses, ones that provide clarity on multi-faceted education and policy related topics, and the stories that help to change the narrative for Stockton to be portrayed in more reflective and positive light.

Porras first joined ABC10 in 2021 and, in addition to his current position, has worked in a variety of roles at the station including as a digital producer, assignment editor, photographer and video editor.
